The classic fire and clear tubing from Golden Gate Tubing, transformed into wig wag "reversal" sections, adds a visually striking element to this functional marvel, showcasing Carpenter's artistry in merging form and purpose. The recessed ground joint, or "dewars," further enhances both the aesthetic and functional aspects of this exceptional glass piece.

Artist BIO

Nick Carpenter, also known as The Glass Carpenter, embarked on his journey in glassblowing in late 2016. His artistic path began on a lathe through an apprenticeship at “Burner Glassworks” in Asheville, North Carolina, under the guidance of Galloway glass. Unfortunately, the company dwindled, but Nick and Galloway found a new artistic home at Level 42 Gallery, where they have been proudly working as individual artists since day one.

The Glass Carpenter’s artistic identity flourished at Level 42 Gallery, and he attributes much of his success to his mentor, Galloway. Another significant influence on Nick’s journey is Shane Smith Glass, with whom he has collaborated since the Burner days, learning valuable lessons and skills along the way. As Nick Carpenter celebrates eight years in glassblowing this fall, his artistic evolution continues to be shaped by the supportive community and influential figures in the glass art world.
