Steve Sizelove is an Indiana-based artist whose life was forever changed in 1995 when he discovered the medium of hot glass. At the time, Steve had recently left his studies at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design to explore the independence of early adulthood and embark on cross-country travels. While living in Boulder, Colorado, he was given the opportunity to experiment with glass at a friend's makeshift studio and was instantly hooked.
Since that fateful day, Steve has dedicated himself to the pursuit of quality and craftsmanship in his glass working. He sought out the instruction of renowned glass artists such as Robert Mickelsen, Roger Parramore, Milon Townsend, and Italian master Lucio Bubacco to refine his skills. These workshops helped Steve become an award-winning artist, earning a Niche Award in the category of Goblets in 2005 and inclusion in Lark Books' 500 Glass Objects.
Steve's work has been featured in galleries across the country and exhibited at prestigious institutions such as the Museum of Art and Design in New York, the Kentucky Museum of Art + Craft, and the Richmond Art Museum. Despite his success, Steve remains active in the glass community, participating in exhibitions, gallery talks, and teaching classes at his home studio and other facilities throughout the U.S. and Canada.
In his artist statement, Steve explains that he seeks to enter the stream of consciousness of those who use pipes in their daily lives. He wants his art to become a focal point for contemplation of art and design. With his dedication to craftsmanship and his unique artistic vision, Steve Sizelove continues to make his mark on the world of glass art.
